We went to talk with Dr. Kays this afternoon. The results of the EEG do show that Ella is having seizures. Seizures are not indicative of a healthy brain. This means that brain damage has occurred at some point along this journey.

The tests show the damage is in two places: the right frontal lobe and the mid-brain on the left hand side. At this time, they do not have a way to know the degree of damage: it could be anywhere from mild to moderate to severe.

The amazing part is that through all of these highs and lows, God still continues to speak to us.

There was a thunderstorm outside this morning when the alarm clock went off. As I laid there in bed, the words of this song spoke to my heart:

I Will Praise You In This Storm

I was sure by now God,
That You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away,
Stepped in and saved the day.
But once again, I say, “amen”
and it’s still raining.
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper
through the rain,
“I’m with you”
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands
And praise the God who gives and takes away.

And I’ll praise you in this storm
and I will lift my hands
for You are who You are
no matter where I am
and every tear I’ve cried
You hold in your hand
You never left my side
and though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to You
and raised me up again.
My strength is almost gone.
How can I carry on
if I can’t find You?
And as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper
through the rain
“I’m with you”.
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands
and praise the God who gives and takes away.

I lift my eyes unto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the maker of heaven and earth
I lift my eyes unto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the maker of heaven and earth

And I’ll praise you in this storm
and I will lift my hands
for You are who You are
no matter where I am
and every tear I’ve cried
You hold in your hand
You never left my side
and though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

you’re beautiful
Every little piece love, don’t you know
You’re really gonna be someone, ask anyone
When you find everything you looked for
I hope your life leads you back to my door
Oh but if it don’t, stay beautiful

Every bit of news reminds me of the “feet lamps” that illuminate just the next step on the journey – a challenging step this time, but your faith is an incredible lamp and witness of His grace. Hold tight to Jesus, Ella, Mom and Dad. All our love.

Tina, God gave us music, lyric and melody so that we can give a voice to our emotions. He gave us music, lyric and melody so that we can hear his words of love as he enfolds us in his arms, brushes back our hair from our eyes, wipes away our tears made of anger/sadness/joy–all in a dance that only he can perform and teach. He is dancing with Ella now. He rocks her in his lullaby and strokes her tender being and gives her feather weight kisses that can move heavens and earth . He does this all all with a whisper, a promise and through the touch of her parents. He is that powerful.

You are all so loved,
Kristin

God Bless you all in this tough time, I admire your fight and heart that you are going through for Ella, there is a reason for everything, I know that is hard to place in all of this, but something much bigger is happening that we won’t know until we meet our father in heaven, stay strong Josh and Tina, always in our prayers.

Thanks for posting the lyrics to this song. It brought tears to my eyes. My son has been in the hospital for ten months, since he was born. This was a rough week.
