Tina and I just arrived home from the hospital (2am EST). Ella is doing ok tonight. She looked a bit more puffy in the face then yesterday. Her stats are in the acceptable range (cO2=66, pO2=63), but not great. These were taken right after she was fussing though, so maybe they’ll be better at her 4am gas this morning.

Dr. Kays did reduce the settings on the ventilator which could have also contributed to the so-so numbers. Her FiO2 is at 40% and her assisted breaths per min is 35.

Her chest tubes have stopped draining all together. I would take this as good news if her head wasn’t so swollen. We’ll see what tomorrow brings though.

This has been a tough week emotionally. Thank God Tina and I have each other to lean on. There are times when one of us is able to be strong for the other. God bless my wife for being the stronger one this week.

Your prayers connect the truth we know about Him in our minds, to our hearts.

Psalm 119:28
28 My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word.

Ella is so precious. Shannon and Rick are dear friends of ours, and Ella has stolen our hearts this summer. We have cried with you, cheered with you, and prayed with you. When Jesus said “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted,” I think he was promising that he’d personally show up for us, when our hearts are heavy. I’ll be praying that for you tonight. God bless your precious family. Lori

I’ll bet this has been a tough week emotionally. After the days of good news, this sure is discouraging.

Lord, as You look at precious Ella You know exactly what is causing these fluid issues- heal them, make known their cause to Dr. Kays. You have brought Ella to this place to born, to be operated on, to be repaired. So many steps You’ve taken Ella and her parents through. This next step seems unclear – illuminate it please in Your amazing way. Heal Ella’s little body so that You may be glorified in her full rich life and testimony.

There is nothing I can say to lift the load. Sometimes the Lord requires that we sustain the blow. I will pray for Ella as always and strength and patience for you and Tina. Steady now, stay the course. Lol, Aunt Char and Jim

You know we so wish there was something we could do to ease your burden, dear ones. It’s not meant to be a platitude; I just remember how glorious Paul’s testimony was _because_ of all he endured and persevered thru “to the praise of His glorious grace.” Doesn’t mean the load isn’t incredibly sorrowful at times. Thanks for sharing your authentic hearts with us; you know we love all three of you so much sometimes it hurts, and hold you close 24/7 in love and prayer. Hugs and smooches always. XOXOXO
