Ella is doing well today.

Her fever has not returned so we are hoping that it means that she truly does not have an infection. We should know by Monday morning.

They weened her octreotide medicine and fentanyl today too. They expect to be off the octreotide completely within the next day or so. The withdrawal from all of this has made her a bit more fussy and hard to console.

Today I was able to see where the chest tubes were in her back and the incisions seem to be healing well. Her repair scar across her abdomen looks really good. It has started to blend in with her skin and almost become unnoticeable.

Around 3pm, they weened her CPAP pressure down to 6. This is another baby step forward in her progress and she seems to be tolerating it well.

It is so exciting to see Ella take these steps forward. Looking at her today, it’s hard to believe that only 4 weeks ago, she was in such a dark place.

We are so thankful for her progress. Thank you for all of you joining us on your knees and petitioning God to heal and strengthen her body.

Colossians 3:15-16

15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

We are truly blessed to see your progress Ella. Your little personality is finally coming forth. Hurray, Hurray! We have been blessed here in California. We have a few people who are in need and it seems that many folks are helping those in need. We ar eternally grateful for the small loss of human life. There have been some for sure. We pray for their families. But for the most part we are involved in a giant clean-up situation. All our love to you and your parents for their continual watch for your wellbeing. My nephew is Will Winkler who works in the ICU with Ella. She has stolen his heart and sent this sweet story on to us. Our family has been in some of the steps you are walking and we know we never walk it alone. Just know that people that will probably never know Ella will pray for her daily! God bless! Linda Smith

i’ve been following your sweet girl’s journey for a little while now and wanted to let you know that i am praying for her. i’m so relieved to see that her fever is gone and i’m so happy she keeps getting better every day. my little boy was born in March with R-CDH and i know what a roller coaster ride this is. i belong to a wonderful group for CDH families that has been very informative and supportive. here is the link if you would like to check it out http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/BreathofHope/
