One hundred and one days! Ella has been tracking so well these days and looking cute as ever too!

We spoke to Dr. Kays this afternoon about our girl. He’s please with her progress and said that she would be stepping down to the regular oxygen cannulas tomorrow. Yay! No more CPAP, just a controlled flow of oxygen.

Some more good news…Ella has not spit up at all since we last posted! This is a very good sign in that she’s keeping her food down and it’s going through her body properly.

There’s still another (very large) related hurdle though, and that’s bottle feeding itself. Ella has never had food (i.e. breast milk, formula) given orally.

CDH babies typically have issues related to this and the fact that our girl has gone on so long without this experience only increases the likelihood that the problem will be severe.

We’re not quite at this step yet but we expect it to be a challenging once were there.

On another note of praise, Phillip Andrew was born today! This is the boy of Liz and Rusty, the couple from Birmingham AL, who we met here in Gainesville.

We have been praying for God’s timing in the situation because you see, Dr. Kays has been out of town for the last week! When we went out to dinner with our friends the other night, we didn’t want to alert them to this fact, causing more stress for Liz and Rusty, so we didn’t say a word.

Instead, we prayed and trusted that the Lord’s perfect timing would play out in their lives. Dr. Kays was back in town last night, and they delivered this afternoon. PRAISE GOD FOR HIS SOVEREIGNTY!!

Philip Andrew is stable and doing well, and so is the rest of the family.

Please join us in prayer for Phillip Andrew and his entire family. Pray that Rusty and Liz will continue to look to our Lord for peace, and that their boy will remain stable and grow strong.

Please also pray for our baby girl and her big step tomorrow coming off CPAP.

Praising our Lord for where we are, and for the road ahead.

God Bless

We will join you in prayer for your friends… and also for Ella coming off of CPAP tomorrow! She is so adorable and it is so great to see so many pictures! I check your blog often and pray as soon as I click on to your blog.

I met some friends of yours a few weeks back. Tim & Kari from Biola. Such a small world!

Wow, this is really great news and a big step getting off of CPAP tomorrow! And getting to the place of even thinking about feeding issues is huge. One step at a time. Guess it’s always easier to expect the worst, but we have a lot of hope that she’ll make good progress once she tries feeding. We’ve had some feeding hurdles in our family here–some of them severe–but we got through them thanks to God’s provision. Make sure YOU get plenty of rest in preparation for facing that next hurdle. Sleep makes such a difference in facing challenges with creativity and perseverance and laughter goes a long ways, too! Anyways, we keep praying and praising our Lord, too, for many, MANY answered prayers! Little Phillip will be in our prayers as well. It’s nice that Ella’s there to show him the ropes!

As I type my three year-old Ellie is in the background “playing” the piano and singing, “My God is so Big, so strong and so mighty. There’s nothing my God cannot do!” We trust in our big God to continue healing your precious miracle and to heal her new friend Phillip Andrew too! Thank you for the updates, they are a highlight of our day!

Blessings,
The Lees

Hi you three.
Wow, Things seem to be getting a bit better day by day. Even though there are each day a new set of major hurdles for little Ella We know that Ella will jump those hurdles, have not been on the e-mail for a while. My lap top has been acting up. Actually I am having to redo this as well. We know your faith and ours will bind with all your well wishers to help along the way. We think of you often, We cant begin to know what your stress level must be. We have been in touch and have had updates on Mary and Jack. Cliff has e-mailed to say they are okay and Jacks eyes are doing better. Frank chatted also with Diane at first, as we had seen the fires on the news here. We could not contact Mary Alice. So we had called Diane. It never rains but it pours! We know that you all will have a better 2008. We are glad that all is okay in California for mum and Jack and we know that all will be well with the three of you. Wish we could be there to give you all a big hug. Cant wait to see you all here soon! . Love to all of you

Hi There! I am still praying for MORE even though there is good news on every front for Ella!! Keep going Ella!! The picture of you, Josh, snoozing with Ella is so funny. I’m picturing in my mind seeing both of you watching television together when she is out of the hospital and falling asleep together on some more comfortable looking furniture. But all things in God’s good time!! I know Ella will face more hurdles. The many, many hurdles she has allready gone over and how much diffficulty she has faced, along with her parents, is a source of inspiration for me as well as others, I’m sure. I pray for good news for little Phillip. Love, Laura M.
