Well, Ella had to be placed back on CPAP early this morning.

Her saturations declined and she was having trouble breathing. The aveoli in her lungs were collapsing, making it hard for her to breathe.

This simply means that she is not ready yet and needs more time to gain strength.

Her CPAP is set back to a pressure of 6 and the oxygen support at 50%.

Right now, she is sleeping sound on her belly and her saturations are 100.

We praise God for our baby girl and know that His timing is perfect in all of the details.

On another note of praise, we have looked over at Par and can see that he is not on ECMO. Please keep praying for Ella and her “roommates” as well as Dr. Kays and staff.

Well a minor little setback, but her little lungs needed a break. She really does look great in the pictures!

Praying for Dr. Kays, Baby Par, his parents and of course Sweet Ella and her mom and dad.

That is the sweetist picture yet…it looks like she’s saying “…I told you I’m a marathon runner, not a sprinter!” “all in His perfect timing mom and dad…I promise, I had nothin to do with it!” (You’ll hear those words over and over as she gets older!) What a little pumpkin! She is so beautiful and every day is making terrific progress. This day yesterday, was just a “warm up, practice run” of breathing on her own. She’ll get there! She’s in it for the distance!
Your in our hearts! Blessings to you and your family!

Dear Ella = just a small hiccup for right now util your little lungs can get stronger. It won’t be long when all of that ‘gear’ is gone for good. You look so happy and peaceful!! Our prayers continue for you and your little pal Par — Our Lord is right beside you and your Daddy and Momma as you light the path of faith and strength for Par and his Momma and Daddy. We will keep all of the families in NICU in our prayers and especially the West family and Par and his family. Rest well and sweet dreams little ones – our love and prayers Steve and Joan

It’s O.K. Ella. Every day you’ll get stronger and stronger so maybe next time the CPAP will be gone for good. That is the sweetest picture. She looks like she’s wondering why we put CPAP back on! 🙂 Sweet dreams Ella. ~Nurse Angie

What an alert aware baby. How nice to “see” her thinking. Just a bit more time before she is ready to get rid of of CPAP. Thank God it is available. Thank God for nurses that notice and care. Thank God for Dr. Kays, and Thank God for wonderful parents. We love you. We shall never be the same because of Ella. I can remember the wonderful feeling when we found out that Tina and Josh were pregnant. And the story goes on. All our love, Aunt Char and Jim

Sweet dreams Ella bell. . . and as my beloved grandfather used to say, “you can’t hide beauty!” A little more CPAP will go a long way. You are getting stronger and more lovely each day!

It’s true, precious girl – if a picture is worth a thousand words, those eyes of yours are worth the music of a thousand heartstrings. Thank you Jesus for the incredible progress Ella has made and for helping us all to trust you one awesome day at a time. Hugs and love to you, too, Mom and Dad – see you soon. XOXOXO

Precious Ella! We are praying for you–as much as Par wants you to stay near him for support–we want you to move on out to the NICU 2 so he can have an incentive to get better and move on to the NICU 2 also! You look absolutely adorable every single time we walk by!
