We still haven’t figured out what is ailing Ella.

We can “feel” that she is not doing well. Nurse Marla took care of her today and indicated that Ella was being more fussy and hard to console. They are still thinking that it might be some kind of virus.

When Tina and I spent time with her this evening, it was hard to get her comfortable. Right before we left, she was sleeping soundly on her belly. Between her clinical signs and her numbers being elevated (heart rate and breaths per minute), we’re sure our girl is not 100 percent.

We don’t suspect that it is the change in the diuretics although, she did look a bit puffy in her face this evening. Also, her overall urine output was low.

She is scheduled to have blood labs in the morning to assess her electrolytes. This will give an indication of how the diuretics are working via the g-tube.

We pray that Ella has a restful night. We’re comforted knowing that Nurse Marla will have her tomorrow.

Thank you again for all your prayer support over the last few days, along with the other 168 days. I feel like we’ve been stretched to the point of breaking, but then given moments to recover. Our Father knows what we can handle, and what Ella can handle as well.

We’re trusting in His incredible sovereignty.

Psalm 73:28
But as for me, it is good to be near God.
I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge;
I will tell of all your deeds.

Praise God for His mighty work in your daughter! I loved the report from yesterday’s post! WOW and double WOW! Again, He cares so much for the Bun. . . and His care is evident. I will pray for a restful night for the three of you and for some more information in the morning on her labs. Sweet dreams sweet pea!

In addition to our constant prayers for Ella’s progress and well-being, we also continually pray for God’s comfort, presence and wisdom for Mom and Dad in the midst of the storm. I was reminded last night of the story in Matt 7 about the wise builder. “And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.” Hard to know that the storms will come regardless, but comforting to know that there is a Rock to stand on in the midst of it all. Praying for his faithfulness to keep you steady and whole one step at a time. We love you so dearly. XOXOXO

Perhaps if this is a virus it will end soon. Sometimes it is difficult to tell what is bothering a baby when everything is “normal”. Who knows what can happen under such circumstances that the West Family endures? We are praying that a break will come and you will be able to find the source of all the trouble. LOL Char and Jim
