Today was a nice lazy Saturday with the Bun.

Tina and Grandma went out for the day to do some shopping while I looked after Ella. I was surprised her level of fussiness because she didn’t sleep that well last night, and yet she really had a pretty good day.

Man, let me say that it’s tough when she doesn’t sleep through the night (which has been most of the time). The thing that makes it incredibly challenging is when she just can’t get comfortable, or if she’s a little congested, she’ll thrash around and rub her face which pulls out her oxygen cannulas.

If she didn’t require the O2, we could let her fuss a bit and settle down on her own. But we can’t do this. So from 12:30am to 2:30am I tried to keep her comfortable, but I woke up 12 different times to do so. It’s so hard because you don’t have a choice. Tina’s amazing because she’s able to do this throughout the night with her, but I figured I would try and give her a break. This two hour routine brought me to the brink and I finally surrendered, having to let Tina take over.

We’ve only had a handful of times since she’s been home where she’s slept solid through the night. We hope this gets better moving forward.

At this moment she’s down for the night I’m hoping she sleeps solid. I tried my best to keep her up most of the day, so we’ll see.

Overall Ella ate well, but we didn’t work as much as I would have liked to on oral feedings. That would be Ella’s oral feedings…I had no problems with mine =)

Thanks for the continued thoughts and prayers, for keeping up with us every day, and for loving the Bun.

If it makes you feel any better, the research says that fewer than 1 in 6 babies sleep through the night by 6 months old.

My mom says the first time I slept through the night was on my second birthday. 🙂

Jennifer, that info made me feel better! Never knew that. Lesli, I am sure you just made them both fall out of their chairs. Okay, so my take….Sorry Tina and Josh, might be the genes – we still have failed sleeping through the night with ALL of them on occassion. It took Ryan past 6 months to get it down. I can’t imagine having to juggle oxygen at the same time as trying to console her back to sleep. Josh, I feel your pain, it can get on the nerves the lack of sleep thing. Tina is AMAZING.

Hugs to all and big kisses to Ella.

XO

Ella, I am so pleased to hear that you and Dad had a nice day today. I had a nice day today also it was 70 and sunny in Denver. Taco and Manny spent the day in the yard. I hope you have a wonderful Sunday. Keep up the baby steps and the feeding and sleeping issues will fall into place. Chat with you later. Love, Grandpa!!!!!!!!!

I bet you two don’t know that Marc was a premie and ate every 2 hours around the clock until he was 3. When I tried to let him cry himself to sleep your Grandma Snyder had the biggest fit in her life. I am sure she is Ella’s guardian angel. She was a warrior for her own kids and every granchild she ever laid hands on. I am so proud of you two. I know how it is to be without sleep. It is really tough. I am grateful Father gave her to special people. That way she could get all the love and care she needs.
Hang in there. Grandma Eussey can help. She definitely knows the routine. I bet she is glad to be part of Ella’s life. Our love and prayers attend you. LOL Jim and Char

She looks adorable! and so happy! (hanging out with her Dad appears to agree with her!… no offense, Tina… but there’s a special relationship between Dad and daughter!)… Glad to know, Josh, that your feeding issues aren’t a problem! 😉

Rob and I didn’t sleep through the night for three years straight. It was fun…Ha. When Deanna finally went to first grade I took a break and slept for a year. I would get the girls up and off to school and then sleep till I had to pick them up again. So someday you’ll get to sleep. It just might take a while.
