We had a bit of a scare with Ella this morning. She started retching pretty bad and couldn’t catch her breath. She began to turn purple and it looked like she was going to pass out. I was about to get her emergency oxygen mask to administer blow-by when I noticed that one of her oxygen lines was not plugged in. Instead of plugging it back into the limiter, I plugged it directly into the concentrator and cranked it up to 3 liters. She started catching her breath…she calmed down…and her color returned.

This has NEVER been easy to watch. Her retching episodes are tough enough to get through, but they’re intensified when she can’t catch her breath. I pray that she’ll will outgrow the retching at some point. It’s so hard to watch. Thank God she recovered though.

Tonight she was being her smiley self for me. Grandma, Tina, and I played some Yahtzee while Ella looked on.

Grandma heads back to California tomorrow night, and boy we’re going to miss her. She’s spoiled us good with the cooking and cleaning.

We’re still trying to get into a routine. Hoping we can soon because I think this will help all of us.

God Bless our sweet little Bun.

Ella is so beautiful, and I am so glad her episode today turned out okay…I can truly understand how you would never get used to those. I am amazed at you and encouraged by you, Josh and Tina, for all you’ve been through, for how you “just do it”, for your tremendously beautiful faith in God, and for sharing this journey with all of us. I am truly privileged to be a part of a praying community all across the country! Thank you so much for sharing your story with us. My goodness, she’s almost a year old! God bless you all!

Yes, those episodes are scary. Tyler, who was 6 weeks early, had this Thingie (while I’m sure that is not the actual name for it, I can’t remember the official name). His brain wouldn’t tell him whether to breath, cough or swallow. He had it until he was about 2. It fully freaked me out the first couple of times, it REALLY freaked people out in public, while I calmly put my finger down his throat to make him gag, so he would start breathing again. Anyway, I know what you are going through, although not to the extent. BTW, routines are good, just be ready to change them once in a while. If you are persistant in KEEPING them, you will need medication. lol I missed my mom when she left, too. But, it is good to be alone with the baby, too. My mom is a great cook and did all the cleaning, such as it should be, as in the “old” days, I think. Bun-alicious looked great in the front seat! She looks safe, happy and taken care of. God is great. LoriAnn and The Boys. Plus, I could use a special prayer, too: ALL four boys’ last day of school is tomorrow.

I can definitely relate on this. My mom’s my hero. She makes my mommy life a lot easier. Way to go mommies (grandmas)!
