We visited Ella this evening and she looked good. We waited while they took another blood gas test: her levels had increased from the afternoon test. This is a positive sign.
Dr. Kays was called into the hospital to treat another baby for an emergency and he stopped by to see Ella. He was pleased with her stats. Again, we hope that this will be her week for surgery. We are anxious to have her removed from the ECMO machine and to see her reach this very important milestone.
…and just in case you were interested, Josh wanted me to let everyone know that the name of Ella’s monkey is Reneke (rah-knee-key) 🙂

On Monday, April 2nd, 2007, we went for our 20 week ultrasound and found out that we were having a baby girl. On Wednesday, April 4th, we found out that she has a high-risk birth defect called Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). God is using this time to stretch us and test our faith, but we are holding tight to His promises.

Tina and Josh, I just got off the phone with Ron and Daph Hollowbush. I can’t believe it took this long for me to touch base with them. They will be watching the site. They send their Love and Prayers for Ella and you. I am glad to hear that Ella and Reneke are doing well. I think the CD’s are helping as well. Love all three of you. Grandpa
