Today was a big day for Ella. Thank God for the successful surgery. Dr. Kays and his staff are truly amazing – – thanks be to God for their talent and passion for this high-risk birth defect.

For those of you that are not familiar with this condition, Ella still has weeks in the NICU to fight for her life.

When we spoke to Dr. Kays this evening, he reiterated how sick little sweet Ella is…she is most definitely in the severe category for this defect and although today was a success, we are not even close to being out of the woods.

Right now, we need prayer for her stats over the next couple of days. Dr. Kays wants to see her stabilize and for her fluids to remain low (if her fluids get to be too high, it puts increased pressure in her abdominal cavity).

Also, her liver was very swollen from its prior location in the chest. If her abdomen gets too tight from too much fluid or too much swelling, it can lead to organ failure.

In Colorado, we have several 14ers (mountains that are 14,000+ feet in elevation). Sport enthusiasts like to make it a goal to climb all the 14ers.

We feel like we have climbed only a some of the 14ers – – birth, going on ECMO, adding a PICC line, getting off ECMO and a successful repair surgery. But if you look at the list of 14ers, we have a lot more mountains to climb.

Thanks again for your support and prayers. Please continue to pray for Ella – – that she may grow strong and recover well from her surgery over the next couple of days. God bless.

Continued prayer – yes indeed. Lord heal this beautiful little girl. Help her to grow strong and that her organ’s and healing are perfect in Your will. Please comfort Josh, Tina and Ella as they climb all of the different mountains and reach the top successfully through your strength.

We too will continue to pray for Baby Ella. I live here in the land of 14ers and I’ve never even climed one. That already makes Ella stronger than me. You go sweet baby. Stay Strong and get better.
Lots of Love to the Three of you.

You don’t know me but I am a mom of a NICU graduate. Our daughter was born at 30 weeks and had a life-threatening heart defect that required surgery when she made it to 4 lbs. As I read your story I was touched deeply and consummed by my own feelings that instantly brought me back into the NICU. I can remember praying for my little Emma to fight and for God to protect her while sustaining my husband & I through our journey. We were so tired and as I look back, although our journey continues at home, I still praise God for getting us through even our darkest hours. Your sweet little miracle is so strong and from what I have read her parents are two tough cokies too. May our Lord lift you and your Ella up in His Great Healing arms and hold you close. And may this time in the NICU become a time, that you will hold dear, but be a distant memory as you share Ella’s story as proud parents. If you feel like checking out Emma’s story her website is mdford1973.blogspot.com.

Lord, I echo Kristin’s prayer to rest, repair and restore Baby Ella. Lord, we trust that You who began this good work in this family will be faithful to complete it.

Josh and Tina – we continue to lift you up in prayer throughout our day. We thank you for sharing all the details with us. It has been a great spiritual encouragement to read. I spent a good deal of time yesterday reading your blog from start to finish once again. What a wonderful story Baby Ella will have…she will start her life KNOWING that HE saved her life. We should all be so spiritually blessed.

Love, Lesli

What an incredibly scary journey, and to see that giant incision – unbelievable how God can work thru modern medicine. Like you, we are so grateful for Dr. Kays and his staff but still gripping our hands tight in prayer for continued progress and health and strength for your precious girl. We know God is gripping you three tight also – praying strength and rest in him for you, too, Mom and Dad. We’re with you in love as always. Hugs, Kerri, Mark and kids
