The phone just rang at 8:10pm EST. “Hi, you have a new baby”, was the voice that came through on the other end of the line. “What??!!??”, Josh exclaimed. He was confused. Who is this person and what are they talking about?

It was Dr. Kays. He repeated it again, “You have a new baby”.

Dr. Kays explained that he went in and added another chest tube to the right hand side and replaced a tube on the left hand side. Not much fluid has drained from the left hand side, since he thinks it might be more gelatinous. But he removed 50ccs of fluid from her right hand side (which is where her better lung resides).

They took another blood gas and it was amazing, cO2 in the high 30’s and pO2 at 238. Praise God! He says that she is much more comfortable and responded well to the treatment, hence we have a new baby.

Josh then felt the prompting to make sure that Dr. Kays knows how much we appreciate him and his patience with our baby girl.

The phone was hung up, and we started to cry with joy and praise our Heavenly Father for just this small sign that He is with us and listening to our prayers.

Thank you Lord for giving us this refreshment for our spirits tonight. Thank you for the many followers that have earnestly been praying for us, Ella and Dr. Kays. You are a faithful and mighty God. We praise you for answering our specific prayers.

We thank you for giving Dr. Kays a victory tonight as her care provider, as we sensed that he was frustrated that nothing seemed to be working for Ella. Lord, we pray without ceasing that you will give Dr. Kays the knowledge of the next steps to take to resolve this mystery. We know that her condition with the fluid is getting tougher and tougher to treat. Yet, we know that nothing is too hard for you, the Great Physician.

Lord, we pray for Ella. We thank you for keeping her strong throughout the day. We thank you for providing her comfort in this hour. Lord, please continue to give her strength so she can continue to fight. We thank you for the privilege of being her parents. She is such a blessing to all of us. Already she is doing your work, by drawing all of us closer to you.

We praise you and thank you for using sweet little Ella Renae. We praise you in this storm and hold tightly to your promises. In Jesus Name, Amen.

UPDATE (10:15PM EST): Ella just had another blood gas. Again, it was amazing! Praise God. This is reassuring – – it means she is really feeling better and that her blood gas earlier was not a one-time fluke. This time it was a pH level of 7.40, cO2=55, pO2=277.

They paged Dr. Kays with the blood gas and he reduced the standard ventilator down to 60% oxygen and her saturations are still pegged at 100. She has another blood gas at 4am.

We are so thankful that we received encouragement tonight from the Lord. Through the past few days, we have had peace knowing that He is in control. But we were praying for a reprieve, a break from the storm. We received it tonight and feel refreshed.

Realistically, we know that what happened tonight has not necessarily resolved the problem. Dr. Kays was able to remove a bunch of fluid from her right side, and therefore, her body is responding positively. But, there is still a fluid mystery to solve.

Please continue to join us in prayer that the Lord will reveal the next best steps in Ella’s care to Dr. Kays.

Thanks again to each of you for joining us in this journey – – your support has been amazing. May the Lord continue to speak to all of us through this experience, so we may draw close to Him and hear His voice.

God is good indeed!!!
I was reading through a study on the Shield of Faith today and wanted to share a portion: Faith is being so fully persuaded and convinced that every word of God is truth that you’re willing to act upon it without having a backup plan waiting in the wings. Faith is trusting the INVISIBLE truth – Jesus – has power to change the VISIBLE facts. When you discover a promise God has given you, align your decisions with it and act accordingly even before you see evidence of it in your life. Believe in God’s integrity and patiently wait for the fulfillment of His promise (Hebrews 6:12). Prov. 30:5 declares, “Every word of God is pure. He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him.” When you believe God’s Word, He honors it and becomes your shield.
Tina and Josh, you two are perfect examples of this type of faith. Continue to hold on to Him. We love you – Terri and Steve

Big sigh of thanksgiving! May all 4 of you: Josh, Tina, Ella, and Dr. Kays, get some rest and sleep well tonight so that you will be strong and ready for a new day tomorrow. This is the respite we’ve been praying for and know how much it is needed. Our prayers are with you. We have a God Who is near, and not far off. We ask Him with you to reveal the double mystery of what is causing this fluid build-up and what needs to be done to resolve it. It’s just a gut feeling, but it feels like Ella’s crisis of the past few days is bringing her closer to that answer and that this is a part of God’s plan for her healing…. Keep holding on! Praying for wisdom, and rest…one breath at a time. No matter what, He is trustworthy, and we can truly cast our cares upon Him–He cares!

What else can we say but “Praise God!” We too are praising Him for sharing this victory with Dr. Kays…we know that he loves these babies as he does his own kids and we can only imagine how hard it is on him when things don’t go as he wants them to. God is hearing and responding to the prayers of thousands for your sweet Ella…we will not rest until she is home safe and sound with her precious Mommy and Daddy! We are praying for much needed rest tonight for all of you…and a glorious new day tomorrow!

Hi Josh and Tina,
Lisa Weir who you do not know but her friend is your friend told me that I needed to hear your story, pray and speak a word to you. My husband and I 1yr ago went through a very very similar situation(fluid in the chest , chest tubes, vent, collapsing lungs, x-ray after x-ray ect…). So looking at all of your pictures and reading all of this I can’t help but weap because I know your pain and desperation. I am happy to tell you that our daughter Salem is home and thriving she is still on oxygen but that is nothing compared to where she was. I do have to tell you when I saw Ella I noticed her little double chin and that is the first thing I noticed about Salem hehe.. so cute… God is Good and He is Ella’s healer. Try to breath.. I know it is so hard. But God is holding her little fingers and standing over her bed and He will fight for her when she can’t. She is so incredibly strong and beautiful. I wish we lived near you so we could meet face to face. I am so glad you obviously have incredible support there. Know that we too will agree with you in prayer for a speedy recovery. It is time to get the process sped up!!!!!! The fluid will stop on its own and her lungs will be fully expanded and she will breath on her own in Jesus name!!!!!!Quickly, Lord Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please write or call for any reason at all. 303-932-8261 When she is home I know of a product that can really help. It is loaded with nutrition.(you will just add it to her bottles or food) It would actually be good to start it now if your Dr. would allow. There are some testimonies of babies on oxygen and with various health problems that this product has really helped. Call my sister Tammy 417-623-8261
it is called Relive
Sincerely, Tiffani Grow please read Psalms 40 its for you both…

Hi, I’m Megan’s teacher at Andersen School in Newport Beach. I just found out about your dear Ella today (from your brother) and read about her journey online. The Eusey family is so compasionate and loving. I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to be Megan’s 3rd grade teacher. I loved the note she wrote you last year. Anyway…what I really want to say is that my thoughts and prayers are with you tonight and in the future as your sweet angel gains her health. I’m a mother of 3 beautiful girls and can only imagine your heartache. My oldest is 23 already, youngest 16. May these next few days and weeks show you signs of increased strength and hope for your little girl. I’ll keep her in my prayers.
Love,

There is not one day that I see this beautiful child without shedding tears of one emotion or another. Our love to you and Dr. Kays. He is awsome. God is the creator and master planner. Today I was reading in John and came upon the story of the blind man… John 9:1-3 1 As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”

3 “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. …

and then… HE GOES ON TO HEAL HIM! Thought that was GOOD! YEP, GOD IS GOOD!
